Disney released the first photos of their new “World of Color” show – “Villainous!” This will be part of the all-new Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party that will be debuting September 17, 2019, for 20 select nights of parties. This is a separate-ticket event. I’ve got my ticket already and am looking forward to spending the evening with my sisters on an all-sisters trip in October.

Oogie Boogie (who can be found in “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”) will tell a Halloween tale about a young girl (a newly created character by Disney animator Eric Goldberg) named Shelly Marie. Hmm…a possible play on an name?

In “Villainous!,” Shelly has to make a decision about her Halloween costume for this year and finds herself wondering if she could really be as strong and unique as some of her favorite Disney villains. Okay, I might relate a little. I struggled to decide who I was going to be for Halloween this year, but I decided on Edna Mode (not exactly a Disney villain, but she’s got a lot of attitude).

The tale that unwinds will take Shelley on an unforgettable journey through encounters with Dr. Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Malificent, The Queen, Ursula, and others.

Spectators like myself will be able to enjoy watching the villainous side of characters through lasers, lights, projections, as well as other special effects. “Villainous!” shows that deep down, maybe there’s a little villain in all of us.

Oogie Boogie Bash, will feature other experiences including:

  • Interactive “Descendants”-inspired dance party
  • Mysterious Disney villains walk-through experience
  • Stage show with Mickey Mouse

I can’t wait to experience this all-new Halloween party with my sisters. What a way to pay tribute to my mother who loved all things “Nightmare Before Christmas” and passed away last year after a short battle with cancer. She would have loved this event would have been one of the first in line to buy tickets if she were still here.
