About Me

I have a motto that I live by…the family that plays together stays together.  My belief comes from a heck of a lot of fun family vacations and reunions that have shows me time and time again the truth of this motto.  At Ohana and Friends Travel, I want to share my expertise and planning skills to help others build long-lasting memories and relationships via family travel and reunions.

My fondest memories as a child are those of traveling with my family. We were five kids and two adults in a station wagon driving around the US in the worst heat of the summer with no air conditioning and black, vinyl interior seats that our skin stuck to. We still like to laugh about the time all the kids got stuck (by themselves) in an elevator in Mexico…and sneaking Mom’s homemade cookies she made for a road trip in the family station wagon (where did all the cookies go?)…and going to Disneyland and us girls only getting to use the “A” tickets for rides because my older brothers used all the “E” tickets for the good rides…all of us kids plugging our noses and making faces at the Yellowstone geysers because they smelled like rotten eggs (my brother saying “the smeller’s the feller”)…I could go on and on.

As we all grew up and had kids of our own, vacations were a way to stay connected with my siblings and dozens of nieces and nephews. It’s where we bonded with the kids of the next generation. Whether it was a day at Grandma and Grandpa’s beach cabin enjoying competitive beach Olympics (aka who can throw the seaweed the furthest) or a trip to Disney World to experience free dining (and showering in shorts outside because it was raining that hard), new memories were being made that continue to give us stories to talk about to this day. The kids have traveled all over the US together. As I said: The family that plays together, stays together.

My Family’s Alaska Cruise Together

Sometimes we have have vacations with just the adults. I’ve planned a Panama Canal cruise as well as an Alaska cruise with my parents and grown siblings. Last fall, we had a sisters’ trip to Disneyland and attended Oogie Boogie’s Bash. It’s been 40+ years since us girls trick-or-treated together. The family that plays together stays together.

After helping to plan out many of these vacations, one day my husband said, “You should get paid to do this.” So in the fall of 2017, I began my journey as a travel advisor and consultant. I have taken dozens of classes and trainings. I have been booking trips and cruises for groups of all shapes and sizes. I continue to learn and grow in my field so I can continue to offer my clients new travel experiences.

And in 2020, with the Covid-19 pandemic, I shifted my business model to include family vacation planning tips. In addition, in my weekly email, I offer tips on how to stay connected to family through virtual family reunions and vacations. You will find occasional recipes for things like road trip foods as well as learn about all the trends in travel to enable your family to travel safely. You can sign up for these weekly emails below.

At the heart of my business, is helping families and friends grow their relationships. I don’t just “book” a vacation, I try to fit you with the vacation that you want and experiences that are catered to your group. I provide suggestions on how to prepare you (or your kids or travel companions) for your upcoming travel. I help your group get excited about your trip and all the fun experiences ahead. At the end of your trip, my deepest desire is that your group is more bonded and has fond remembrances that you can talk and laugh about for decades to come. The family that plays together stays together.

Feel free to contact me if I can help you plan fun activities for you or your group. I am always looking for feedback and what kinds of things my readers and clients are interested in. Go ahead and let me know how I can assist you. Thank you!
